Since 1641 Thomas had been updating his father Caspar's classic, based on new anatomical discoveries. This print comes with the text page showing the figure index. Artists and Engravers: The author of this work is Thomas Bartholini or Bartholin (1616-1680) a Danish physician, naturalist, physiologist and anatomist. He is commonly credited with the first description of the thoracic duct in man. He described the intestinal lymphatics and their drainage via the thoracic duct into the venous system. He edited one of the earliest medical journals.
