Subject: Original antique print, titled: 'Preliminary Chart of Delaware and Chesapeake Bays and the Sea Coast from Cape Henlopen to Cape Charles.' The print is numbered: 12. It shows: naval map/chart made under the direction of F.R. Hassler and A.D. Bache. It shows the coastline near the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays, including cities as Baltimore etc.
Condition: Good, given age. Folded multiple times, as issued. Foxing in the image. Paper separation in the folds, partly backed with tape.General age-related toning and/or occasional light stains from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Lithography on a vellin type paper.

Artists and Engravers: Engraved by J.V.N. Throop. Engraved after the original by A. Boschke. Albert Boschke (?-?, active around 1850) was an American cartographer. His map of Washington DC was isntrumental in the defense of that city during the Civil War. Engraving: John Peter van Ness Throop (1794-c.1861) worked as an engraver in Washington DC from circa 1830 to 1850.
