Subject: Plate : 'Alguazil des combats de taureaux'. This plate shows a 19th century alguacilillo (Spanish diminutive for alguacil), a horseman who parades at the head of the paseĆ­llo (the ceremonial parade of the bullfighters before a corrida) and wears 17th century alguacil clothes.
Condition: Good, given age. Edges of margins browned but will frame out. Small crease top left outside image area. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Tone wood engraving printed from two plates, with beautiful original hand colouring heightened with arabic gum. On wove paper.
Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 17.5 x 27 cm. The image size is ca. 12 x 19 cm.
