Subject: Plate 1: 'Aal - Karper.' (Eel - Carp). This plate shows nets and other equipment for fishing eel and carp.
Condition: Very good. Original fold lines as issued. Crease in left top, not affecting image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Copperplate engraving on verge type hand laid paper with watermark, which is not present in all sheets.

Description: This original old antique print / plate originates from: 'Huishoudelyk Woordboek [...]' by M. Noel Chomel, published in Leyden and Amsterdam by S. Luchtmans & H. Uytwerf in 1743. This is a first Dutch edition. The work also appeared in French in 1709, 1718 and 1767 and was even reworked in Japanese. This work covers all aspects of managing a country estate.

Artists and Engravers: The author of this work is Noel Chomel (1633-1712) is a famous French agriculturist and encyclopedia maker, much insprired by the Enlightment period in history. In this Dutch edition the plates are engraved by Frans de Bakker (active from 1736�1765).
