Antique Print-MILITARY-GERMAN-INFANTRY-RUNNING GAUNTLET-WOMEN-Knotel-1925
Subject: Original lithographed print, captioned: "Spiessruthenlaufen". Probably meant ironically here, as "running the gauntlet" was a form of corporal punishment where a soldier would run between two lines of his fellow soldiers who repeatedly strike him. Here, it seems, the farmer girls "run the gauntlet" while being taunted by resting soldiers.
