Description: These original prints are from a series of 60 cartoons consisting each of 16 small coloured prints, depicting a tale, telling a moral story. These so-called 'Catchpenny prints' or 'Images d'Epinal' were published in the period 1860-1890 as English translations from the original French work by Pellerin, Imagerie d'Epinal for the Humoristic Publishing Co., Kansas City.

Artists and Engravers: Jean Charles Pellerin (1756-1836): French publisher and the first to publish the series of tales in the form of cartoons. Since his printing shop was in Epinal (in the French Vosges region) he called them 'Images d'Epinal'.
