Subject: Antique print, titled: 'A General Chart of the Western Ocean.' - A map of the Atlantic Ocean, showing the vast expanse bordered by Ireland in the NW, Guinea SW, and from Brazil to Newfoundland in the East.
Condition: Very good, given age. Original folds (as issued). Sheet overall a little soiled. Top margin dampstained. Offsetting from an ink stamp to the rear of the sheet. A small manuscript addition to this map: a previous owner drew in a little ship with an inscription. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after 'John Seller'. John Seller (ca. 1630-1697) was one of the early important figures in the history of the map-publishing trade in England. He was the first Englishman to try establish an atlas-publishing business comparable with Continental firms, such as Blaeu, Jansson and de Wit.
