Subject: Decorative engraved portrait of "Adriaan Bankert, Lt. Admiraal van Zeeland", (died 1684, Admiral of the Dutch fleet and Commander of the fleet of Zeeland), within an oval border.
Condition: Very good. Paper separation on lower plate mark and tear in lower left, reinforced with acid free archival tape. General age-related toning and occasional light stains from handling. Please study image carefully.

Artists and Engravers: Artist: A. Schouman after a painting. Engraver: Jacob Houbraken (Dordrecht 1698 - Amsterdam 1780). Houbraken was a Dutch artist, engraver and art collector. Jacob spend most his time designing and engraving portraits, such as the one offered here. His father (Arnold Houbraken 1660-1719) before him was also a celebrated artist/engraver.
