Subject: Plate: 'Archibald Armstrong - Archee, the King's Jester.' Archibald Armstrong (died March 1672), court jester, called 'Archy', was a native of Scotland or of Cumberland, and according to tradition first distinguished himself as a sheep-stealer; afterwards he entered the service of James VI, with whom he became a favourite.
Condition: Excellent given age. General age related toning and occasional light foxing. Paper edges ocassionally a bit frayed and chipped. Remains of binding. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Original etching / engraving on a vellin type paper.
