Subject: Original engraving titled "Hagar vernedert zich voor Sara" (Hagar humbles herself before Sarah). We see Abraham and Sarah sitting side by side in front of a tent, with Hagar prostrate in front of them, a small herd and two sheperds in the background. (VI Boek, Bl. 129 - Book 6, p. 129).
Condition: Very good given age, left edge a bit uneven, margins minimally browned. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Copperplate engraving/etching on verge type paper.

Description: From: "Abraham de Aartsvader in XII boeken", (Rotterdam: Jan Daniel Beman, 1746) by Arnold Hoogvliet (Vlaardingen 1687-1763). Hoogvliet was an edifying poet of the 18th century. The book from which these prints are taken is seen as his magnum opus.

Artists and Engravers: Engraved and designed by Jan Punt (Amsterdam 1711-1780). Punt was an actor, artist and engraver. Reinier Vinkeles was one his pupils.
