Description: From a later edition of the complete works of Deuchar (A Collection of etchings after the most eminent Masters ..., first published in 1803.) This ed. which varies quite a bit from the earlier version, with less prints, but many more prints by Deuchar himself and others, we estimate was printed around 1870. The original work, was printed in a limited number for Deuchar's art friends. As such they are quite scarse. The date in our titles is the date the etchings were originally etched.

Artists and Engravers: Made by 'David Deuchar' after 'Carel Dujardin'. David Deuchar (1743-1808) worked as an engraver and etcher in Edinburgh. Karel Dujardin (Amsterdam, 1622-1678, Venice) was a Dutch painter and engraver. He is supposed to have been a student of Berchem. From 1640 to 1650 he is situated in Rome, before returning to the Netherlands. In 1675 he would return to Italy, and die in Venice.
