Subject: Antique print, titled: 'Kies rust voor moeite.' - (Choose rest over effort'). A man leaning over a cane labours uphill while another man stands a little ways higher and points down.
Condition: Very good, given age. Margins cropped close to the platemark. A small stain in the lower margin and one in the top left corner. A faint dampstain in the lower left margin and far edge of the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Etching on hand laid paper.

Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Vincent van der Vinne Jr.' after 'Adriaan Spinneker'. Most of the refined plates are by painter and etcher Vincent van der Vinne Jr (1686-1742), although J.C. Philips is given as the etcher of 4 plates in the second part of this book. The author of this work is Adriaan Spinniker (Groningen 1676-1754 Haarlem). He was a preacher with the doopsgezinde gemeente in Amsterdam. He is known for his poetry.
