Subject: Antique print, titled: 'A Chart of Norway from ye High Land of Horrel to Momendael with ye Liet of Dronten.' - A map of the Norwegian coast, from Dronten (Trondheim) south to circa Alesund. The map features two compass roses and rhumb lines, scale bars lower right.

Condition: Very good, given age. Original middle fold, as issued. Two small creases in the top margin. A crease from the lower margin a little way into the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Medium: Engraving on hand laid paper.

Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after 'Samuel Thornton'. Samuel Thornton (d.1715) was the son the English mapmaker John Thornton, an eminent English mapmaker of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century. After his father's death in 1708, Samuel Thornton continued to re-issue his father’s map (often with his imprint substituted).
