Description: Source unknown, to be determined. Signed (Frans Wiegers, Jan Wiegers' son) and numbered (46/60) in pencil. A second signature in the lower margin, by Jan Wiegers. Whether this was actually signed by Jan is doubtful, as a number of aquatints were printed posthumously in 1975 by Frans Wiegers. An annotation on the rear of the sheet suggests this is one of these later printings.

Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Jan Wiegers' after own design. Jan Wiegers (1893-1959) was a Dutch Expressionist painter and one of the early members of the artist's circle De Ploeg. Wiegers was trained at the academy Minerva in Groningen, but also received training at the academies of Rotterdam and The Hague. During a visit to Davos in 1920 Jan met the German Expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, by whom Jan became heavily influenced.
