Condition: Excellent given age. General age related toning and light staining. Paper edge and margin a bit irregular from binding. Please study scan carefully.

Medium: Copperplate etching, engraving and stipple engraving, intaglio print. Original hand colouring, probably heightened with eggwhite containing substance fir shiny impression. Paper: vellin type.

Description: This rare and delicate plate originates from: 'Hand-Atlas sammtlicher medicinisch-pharmaceutischer Gewachse.', by dr. Wilibald Artus, published in Jena by F. Mauke 1848 and later ed. This botanical work was published for use by pharmacists, doctors and druggists. Although at least 7 editions have been published, all must have appeared in small numbers, as this work is very seldom offered for sale. References: Nissen 53.
