Subject: Vintage Portrait Print, untitled. A self-portrait of Maria Elisabeth Georgina (Lizzy) Ansingh, a prominent Dutch painter and a member of the Amsterdamse Joffers, a group of female artists associated with the Amsterdam art scene. Ansingh (1875-1959) was the granddaughter of painter Johann Georg Schwartze and niece of renowned portrait artist Thérèse Schwartze, who also provided her early artistic training. She is known for her portraits, still lifes, and especially her unique series of paintings featuring dolls, often depicting them in whimsical and enigmatic scenes. Ansingh's studio and dollhouse were severely damaged during World War II, but the dollhouse has since been restored and is on display at the Museum Arnhem.
