An antique print or map as a present can be a very satisfying gift. Carefully choosing an object to add to a loved one’s collection, or finding something that really suits a specific person, is a fun activity, and expresses your sincere interest in the person. After all, you took the time to find something specific!

How to select a print?

A few things about the person you are giving to may be considered to ease the process of choosing from our extensive collection:

• Where is he/she from? Where do they live now? We stock beautiful maps and plans of numerous countries, cities and regions, all over the world. These can be found in one of the subsections of our Maps and Topographical section.
• What is his/her line of work? Our store features a section of profession prints where you may find what you’re looking for.
• What are their favorite animals, plants, sports? These, again, can be found in the relevant sections of our store, or found using a keyword search.
• What is his/her hobby?
• If the person is a collector, what is the subject of their collection?
• What style or which historical period do they like?
• What (similar) objects already adorn their walls?

While a print in itself is a splendid gift, a skillfully framed print is truly fantastic. Framing can be costly – especially when done with the right (archival, acid-free) materials, a good frame can sometimes cost more than the print itself. Remember, however: if it’s worth framing, it’s worth framing right. While we do not currently offer a framing service, we will gladly assist and advise you on the proper way to frame our treasures.
